Tsiakkas Winery was established in 1988 and has an average annual production of 150 000 bottles per year. It is considered to be one of the small-regional wineries of Cyprus. It was founded by Costas and Marina Tsiakkas. Costas has left a promising job in the banking sector in 2001 to continue his dream and to devote himself solely at the winery.
Tsiakkas Winery mainly focuses on dry wines, some of which are local/indigenous varieties, and traditional products such as Zivania, Commandaria. White Wines are Xynisteri, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Additionally Chardonnay Barrique and Sauvignon Fume are made from private vineyards in a limited production.
Tsiakkas Winery also produces a rose wine called Rodinos. Red wines are Porfyros, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and indigenous varieties Vamvakada and Yiannoudi. Lastly the winery produces an innovative red Zivania aged for 10 years in the oak barrels and Commandaria aged for 5 years in the oak barrels.
In 2015 Tsiakkas Winery has been granted with some outstanding awards for its wines. Xynisteri 2014 has been awarded a regional trophy in the Decanter World Wine Awards, a first of its kind, ever to be received by a Cypriot wine.
Zivania has also been awarded the best in show in the 1st spirit competition in Thessaloniki, Greece. Tsiakkas Winery has received other awards for its products from various wine competitions such as Decanter World Wine Awards, Thessaloniki world wine competition, Cyprus Wine competition, U.S.A and Russia. The winery’s products can also be found in various countries. With 10% of its production going to exports, wines can be found in Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Holland, Germany and U.S.A.
The winery is open for visits Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00 and on Saturday from 09:00-16:30. On Sunday we only open for large groups or scheduled visits, however availability varies. The visits include a tasting of 5 wines, charged 2 euros per person. Tour of the winery is subject on availability and has a minimum charge of 25 euros.
